Monthly Footprint Art: St. Patrick’s Day Crafts

Are you tired of seeing footprint art yet? I hope not, because I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a regular thing.  March’s St. Patrick’s Day footprint art was a little difficult for me. I had crafter’s block; all I could think of was shamrocks.  I wanted to make St. Patrick’s Day cards to send out, but there was no way I could fit a footprint shamrock on the size card I was trying to make.  So, I broke out my handy dandy side kick: Pinterest.

But there led to more disappointment.  I found a ton of good ideas, but none that I thought were feasible with a squirming six month old.   You really think I could have painted a rainbow on his foot & it come out recognizable?? I probably should have tried just for a blooper, lol.  I finally decided to do a pot of gold & a leprechaun.   The leprechaun was a stretch though, so use your imagination ;).

My first attempt was to make his whole foot the pot of gold. That got veto’d real quick.  Maybe if I had done just his toes gold??  I don’t know.  I’m more confident in my adding detail skills then my getting a decent footprint skills, lol.

Ya, not cute at all.  So I decided to just do his footprint as the pot.  Then I use the end of a sponge brush to make the piles of gold.  One of my favorite pro tips, this way they’re all the same size & (almost) perfectly round!

I added a rainbow with magic markers &”Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” to top it off!  I *tried* to find a festive font that met the holiday.  This what I ended up with, not super Celtic but it works, lol.

Next, I attempted to do a leprechaun & the struggle was REAL.  My vision was a leprechaun’s head/face but it didn’t really come full circle.  Hubs goes, “What, is Santa’s evil twin in town?”.  Guess I over did the beard, lol.  I also found out I don’t know how to draw very well.  Fonts & handwriting, sure.  Leprechaun bodies?  Not so much.

So I ended up just giving them some weird feet & calling it a day.   Kinda cute, mostly odd. Hopefully I do better next year, lol.

I did do a shamrock for his memory box.  I wasn’t 100% satisfied with the spacing, but it wasn’t bad enough for me to start all over.

BUT I ran out of creative juices & seriously have no idea what catchy phrase to add.  Please give me suggestions!! March has been rough, I need all the help I can get, lol.
