From Drab to Shab: Diaper Box Baskets

Today, I hit the limit.  I couldn’t stand to throw out one more diaper box.  We’ve thrown out so many & each time I think to myself how wasteful it is.  I mean, yeah it’s just a cardboard box & yeah, we recycle but still.  There had to be SOMETHING I could do with them.

As I looked around my mess of a house I thought about how badly I needed to clean.  There are baby toys & photography props everywhere.  I’m forever complaining about how much easier it would be to keep things tidy if I had more baskets for organization but never get any because they’re so expensive.

Monthly Footprint Art: St. Patrick’s Day Crafts

Are you tired of seeing footprint art yet? I hope not, because I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a regular thing.  March’s St. Patrick’s Day footprint art was a little difficult for me. I had crafter’s block; all I could think of was shamrocks.  I wanted to make St. Patrick’s Day cards to send out, but there was no way I could fit a footprint shamrock on the size card I was trying to make.  So, I broke out my handy dandy side kick: Pinterest.

Monthly Footprint Art: DIY Valentine’s Day Cards

Do you ever think of how Valentine’s Day was when you were a kid?  The classroom is decked out, you decorated card boxes and everyone was your valentine.  You anxiously wait for February 14 to arrive so you could enjoy the class party instead of math and eat way too much candy.  That was the life!

You get older and the Valentine’s Day card appeal dwindles as romance becomes more prevalent.  Which is wonderful & all, but as a new mom I’m now anxiously waiting for E’s class parties.  I can’t wait for baking heart shaped goodies and making DIY Valentine’s Day cards.  I’m totally going to be that mom living vicariously through him by forcing him to wear red and give a card everyone (even to the girl “with cooties”).  & I’m SO excited.

Monthly Footprint Art – January

January has been a pretty busy month between traveling, doctor’s appointments, and family visits causing it to FLY by.   Time almost got away from me, but luckily I broke out my paints & the bumbo with a few days to spare.  I plan on doing monthly footprint art for at least the first year (surprise).  Our little ones change so much over the first 12 months, it’s so precious to have keepsakes to help remember how teeny they once were.

For January, we (lol, really Lori??) I decided to do snowmen & penguins.  (Not that those are at all relevant to this North Carolina weather we’ve been having.)  I also did a Mama Bear & Baby Bear craft just for fun!!  I was feeling pretty confident this month since E can sit in his bumbo floor seat so well now.   What I didn’t consider, however, is how interested he is in his feet lately….  I had to be sure to keep a toy in his hands the entire time in order to stop him from eating paint, lol.

Baby’s First Christmas Craft: footprint art

I can’t believe it’s Christmas time already! A year ago today, I told hubs I was pregnant.  How crazy is that?! Time goes by so quickly! Just another reason why I love footprint art so much. (I promise I’ll do other crafts eventually, lol.)  Seeing how much those little feet have grown over time is amazing.  But out of all of the footprint art we’ve done, these Christmas footprint crafts are my favorite so far!

Baby’s First Thanksgiving Crafts

I’m only three months in, but I can already tell that the first year with a baby is filled with so many monumental milestones.  Everything they do is a “first”.  It’s mind boggling to me.  From reaching for your hand to their first thanksgiving, every moment is so precious.  I, of course, want to document every.single.one.  in as many ways as possible.  I constantly am capturing digital moments (I currently have 2745 photos & 238 videos on my phone….) but I also am a sucker for the tangible items.  So I craft! & boy, are these thanksgiving crafts presh!

Baby’s First Halloween Crafts

I love the holiday season and I am especially excited to start family traditions as we have become a family of three.  Crafts with E are obviously a shoe in.  We will probably do monthly crafts throughout the year (at least) but knowing me, they will be in higher quantity from October-December.

Halloween is our first holiday with E, so I had a combination of “crafters block” & an over abundance of ideas…it was overwhelming. Gobble Gobble

Warning: this is a double post; from decor to turkey. Happy Thanksgiving!
We just moved into a house, yay! We have plenty of space now & I’ve been trying to decide on decor.  I really wanted to do a gallery wall, but wasn’t sure where to start!  I knew I didn’t have enough frames so it was great when I found an 8-piece set at Bed, Bath & Beyond.  It was a great starting point, but it wasn’t what I was going for.  I wanted more.  I wanted personalized. So I shopped around some craft stores for some things & I rummaged through the house finding some more frames & signs that I could incorporate.
